Chelsea Guo

Chelsea Guo studies piano with Hung-Kuan Chen and Tema Blackstone, and classical voice with Lorraine Nubar at the Pre-college Division of the Juilliard School. 

Chelsea is a Young Scholar of the Lang Lang Foundation, a young artist of the Artemisia Akademie at Yale, and a recipient of the US Chopin Foundation Scholarships for three consecutive years. She has been a prize winner at the Ettlingen International Piano Competition, the Young Artists Concerto Competition at Piano Texas, and a winner of the Nordmann Scholarship at the Juilliard School. As a classical soprano Chelsea received the Silver Award in the 2019 National YoungArts Competition in Classical Voice, the first place award of the 2019 Schmidt Vocal Competition in New York City, and has been awarded scholarships from the prestigious George London and Gerda Lissner Foundations. Chelsea has also been selected as a candidate for the 2019 U.S. Presidential Scholar.
 
Having debuted as solo pianist with the Tianjin Symphony Orchestra at the age of nine, Chelsea returned to the orchestra recently as a vocal soloist under the baton of Maestro Tang Muhai. Her appearances as piano concerto soloist have also included the Ft. Worth Symphony under the baton of Barry Douglas, the Torun Symphony in Poland, the Midwest Young Artists Symphony in Chicago, and the Connecticut Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra. 

Chelsea has been a guest young artist at the Leeds Piano Festival and the 6th Shenzhen Piano Music Festival. She has given piano recitals in Wigmore Hall, Howard Assembly Room (Leeds), Shenzhen Concert Hall, Tianjin Concert Hall, and Frohnburg Palace (Salzburg). Other venues she has appeared as a pianist include Stern Auditorium and Weill Hall of Carnegie Hall, Harris Hall (Aspen, CO), Millennium Park (Chicago), and the Ishikawa Concert Hall. Chelsea’s radio appearances have included National Public Radio’s “From the Top” and New York Classical Music Radio Station WQXR’s “Young Artist Showcase,” to which she will return, after her first broadcast at the age of nine, with her full solo piano and voice program in June, 2019. In 2019 season, Chelsea will be presented by the Classical Impromptu Series with four solo piano/voice recitals in the New York metro area.
